The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Hon. Sani Liti in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home State of Katsina has demanded his immediate resignation over the spate of insecurity for which he has failed woefully to address.
Speaking during a press conference in Katsina on Monday he listed issues of insecurity, the rise in poverty, poor economic policies, upsurge in tribal/ethnic militia, and increase in corruption and criminal activities, among others as the challenges facing the All Progressives Congress (APC) government under the headship of Buhari
“The Buhari government has not only failed to uplift the lives of Nigerians, as he promised but soaked the country into deeper corruption and misery.”
He challenged the National Assembly to invoke constitutional means
In the event of the President refuses to resign, to save the lives and properties of Nigerians.
“Between 2015 and now more than 50,000 Nigerians have lost their fives to bandits. Also, several trillion Naira worth of properties and money for ransom were lost to the insurgents who used the money to purchase weapons as confessed by some of the bandits,” he said.
He also asked the federal government to, as a matter of urgency, declare a state of emergency on security, adding that, “In this respect, we are calling for the government to immediately hire mercenaries for six months from wherever to train security operatives to fight the rising banditry, insurgency, and tribal militia.
In the same vein he urged the government to immediatly recruit one million young Nigerians to be trained as Special Forces to protect and secure the country when the mercenaries leave after six months.
The chairman also called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Niger and Sokoto States.
“If the Federal government refuses to act, we ask all the state assemblies to start the processes of impeachment of the governors,” he said.
