For allegedly raping a 14-year-old (name withheld) member of the church’s choir, the General Overseer of The Beloved Chapel, Agbado Ogun State, Pastor Israel Adebayo, has been arrested
The mother of the teenage girl reported the misdemeanor of the pastor at Agbado Divisional Police Headquarters that the head of the church, situated at 9, Iyaniwura street, off Owonikoko Street Agbado, lured her daughter into his room and forcefully slept with her when she travelled to treat herself of a certain ailment.
Following the report after almost ine year after the rape incidence, the police swung into action and arrested the 38-year-old pastor
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the pastor, while being interrogated after his arrest, “admitted defiling the victim,” even as he “pleaded for forgiveness”.

“The victim, who claimed that the Pastor was the first person to sleep with her,.is currently recuperating in a hospital.”
Meanwhile, Lanre Bankole, the State’s Commissioner of Police, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State CIID for additional investigation and potential prosecution.
Bankole advised parents to stop covering perpetrators of indecent assault on their daughters no matter how close they are to them, since they too might face prosecution for a compounding offense.
