Director General, Asiwaju Project 2023, Barr Realwan Okpanachi has said that the Tinubu/Shettima Presidency will ensure the completion and operation of Ajaokuta Steel complex if elected, come 2023.
Okpanachi disclosed this at a reception and Town Hall meeting on Asiwaju/Shettima Policy Document (Renewed Hope 2023) organised in his honour in Lokoja following his appointment as the Director General of the group.
The Legal Practitioner said that the Ajaokuta Steel complex would receive serious attention under the administration saying, “We are glad and hopeful that Asiwaju will complete Ajaokuta unlike other previous leaders.
“The present administration has done its best by ensuring that the debts on Ajaokuta are paid. Asiwaju is coming to complete it and put it to use for the good of Nigeria and Nigerians”, he said.
Okpanachi noted that Tinubu believed in grassroots politics saying, “He is not an Abuja or Lagos based politician. He wants his information, policy documents, his policies, ideas and plans to be taken to the grassroots.
“And that is why we are here and we also planning to take it to every Local Government and to every ward. So, we started from Abuja and here we are in Kogi State”, he added.
Okpanachi called on the people of Kogi to massively support All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate for enthronement of good governance in the country.
Also speaking, Chairman of the occasion, Col. Suleiman Babanawa (Rtd) said the choice of Shettima as Asiwaju’s running mate was a wise one and based purely on political calculation.
“In the present circumstance, our hope is in Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Shettima and their religion, the two being Muslims has nothing to do with the kind of governance that this duo will ensure that we have come 2023 and beyond”, he said.
Prof. Adamu Kyuka Usman, chairman Universal Basic Education (UBE) Board and former SA to the President on Legal Matters, Research and Documentation, reviewed the policy document of Asiwaju Project Beyond 2023.
Prof. Usman said that Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration would focus on security and would deploy modern technologies to check activities of criminals adding that when the risk of apprehension is high people tend to behave themselves and obey the laws.
The UBE Board Chairman added that Asiwaju was experienced and had a remarkable track record of achievements urging that he should be given the opportunity to steer the Nigerian state craft for a change.
Hon. Benjamin Ikani Okolo, former member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in his goodwill message urged the people to support the Tinubu/Shettima ticket to clinch the seat.
Also in his goodwill message Ali Balogun Ibrahim, Director Finance and Treasury of Asiwaju Project Beyond 2023 said experience mattered most saying “you cannot lead when you don’t have experience.”
Ahmed Shomoye, National Secretary of the project said that the project which started 13 years ago projecting good vision and good personality of Asiwaju was taking the campaign to the grassroots level.
