The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not capable of causing an upset by unseating the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule in Nasarawa State in 2023.
This is the position of a Lafia-based All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart in the state, Alhaji Reyyanu Iliyasu.
He said the speculations over PDP’s capacity to spring an upset by returning to power it lost in 2011 were farce and unrealisable.
Speaking with newsmen in Lafia, the state capital, on Wednesday, the stalwart who hold the title of Talban Lafia, said the main opposition has no legacy on ground in the state to woo voters with, adding that all the years PDP spent in power in the state were wasted ones.
“The speculations that the PDP can make any impact in the state were mere beer parlour gossips which always end when the actors are sober.
“PDP has nothing to campaign on in the state. I can tell you this authoritatively because I belong to that party at some points. What they do is to wait for allocation to come from Abuja and share at the detriment of the state,” he claimed.
He said unlike the PDP, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC)’s administration which humiliated the then “Africa largest” party out of power in the state in 2011 left a legacy of development and growth.
“The inroad by the CPC was sustained when the party collapsed with others to form the APC. This legacies are being sustained by the governor Sule administration, and this can be seen by the level of transformations going on across the state,” he added.
