The political family of the Kogi Central Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate in the last general elections, Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Unduaghan, under the aegis of Ovidi Family has thrown its support for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Dino Melaye.

The group, known for projecting the vision of Natasha, said competence should be allowed to determine the choice of who becomes the next governor of the state.

The group accompanied Barr. Natasha at the residence of the PDP governorship candidate in Abuja on Sunday to familiarize with him and assured him of their support ahead of the gubernatorial election.

Fortune Omuya Salawu who spoke for the group indicated that the Ovidi Family believes in competence over primordial sentiment and has resolved to work for the victory of the PDP standard-bearer to change the narratives of governance in the state which he said has brought hardship to the people in the last seven years.

He explained that Ebira people are known for fairness, equity, and justice and will not support the ambition of a few individuals who are projecting their selfish interests and giving it an ethnic colouration.

He noted that the antecedents of Dino Melaye as a strong voice for the masses while in the Senate has distinguished him amongst other candidates, adding that his zone, Kogi West senatorial district, has not produced the governor of the state which also gives him an edge over others.

Barr. Natasha commended Melaye for choosing a female running mate, in his choice of Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, adding that it is a level of inclusiveness for women who have been sidelined in elective positions.

Appreciating the support given to him by the immediate political family of Barr. Natasha, Melaye promised to work with them to deliver Kogi State.

“Natasha is the Amazon of Nigerian politics, she’s being admired beyond her imagination.

“We will work in unison, we will deliver Kogi State and show how to run government,” he said.
