A frontline pro-Tinubu and APC support group known as APC Youths Sentinel has urged the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support the aspiration of the former Governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu to become the President of the Senate.
In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday by the Northwest Coordinator of the group, Mallam Mohammed Abdulazeez, the group indicated that Kalu is a tested and trusted colleague of Asiwaju who has displayed capacity to work for Nigerians and defend the cause of democracy just like the President-elect has been doing over the years.

He recalled how the President-elect and Senator Orji Uzor then governors of Lagos and Abia States were both persecuted for their resolute stance against the aborted third-term agenda in 2006.

“They did not end there but still went ahead to deliver their respective states to the opposition in 2007 against the presidential onslaught of the then ruling PDP.

While Tinubu delivered Lagos State to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Kalu delivered Abia and Imo States to the newly formed Progressive People’s Alliance, (PPA) and came fourth in the presidential election of 2007.

“Since old dogs do not learn new tricks, the President-elect who is the most celebrated politician in Africa for spearheading the coalition that led to the crushing defeat of the then ruling party in 2015 which paved the way for the inauguration of our great party on May 29, 2015 needed a capable and trusted colleague with much hindsight, insight and foresights.
“He needs Kalu to lead the third arm of the government for the fast accomplishments of the agenda of the President-elect as the stakes are high.

“We hold this to be true and self-evident in the past activities of the two great leaders.

“Therefore, there is no better time to enthrone a tested, reliable and proven democrat to chair and lead the 10th National Assembly than now.”

The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, has insisted only fresh election can reinstate the 27 lawmakers from Rivers State who who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him by voluntarily switching political allegiances, the lawmakers have effectively relinquished their previous seats, with no avenue for reinstatement.

Despite directives to INEC to refrain from taking action, Nwanyanwu argued that delaying elections merely prolongs the inevitable outcome.

According to
In an interview with Arise TV, he remarked, ”I agree with Wike that nobody will remove the 27 lawmakers but they have removed themselves.

They have on their own volition decided to leave the state assembly. And I want to say without mincing words that nothing will bring back the 27 lawmakers to their seats unless another election is conducted and they emerge victorious in the election.

As of today, any lover of democracy and laws would know that the constitution has written it clearly that if on your own, you decided to join another political party, there is no provision that you want to come back.

I’m aware that there are plethora of cases and INEC has been told not to do anything. But you see, they are just postponing the day of the election.

These lawmakers are no longer recognized members of the state assembly. I’m a lawyer and most lawyers are unanimous on this matter. When a law is clear and unambiguous, you don’t need to give it any strange interpretation.
